As a nurse leader, I poured everything into my career and family, but behind the scenes I battled unrelenting migraines, stress, anxiety, gut issues, and a deep exhaustion that no amount of sleep could fix. What I didn’t understand at the time was that perimenopause was also quietly altering my mood, energy, focus, and experiencing pains that could not be explained. I felt frustrated, unheard, and isolated — even in a healthcare system I had worked in for decades.
Eventually, I reached a breaking point and stepped away from my leadership position. I didn’t know if nursing was for me anymore. I felt untethered.
But stepping away allowed me to step within.
I invested in myself through naturopathic health, nurse coaching, energy alignment, and complementary therapies that nurtured every part of me.
I sought out Reiki practitioners, searching for something to soothe my nervous system and spirit. The deep calm and energetic realignment I felt through Reiki helped shift me in ways no other modality had. This experience was so transformative that I chose to become a Reiki practitioner myself, to help others experience the same balance and well-being I did.
My wellness journey included multiple complementary practices that created deep, sustainable balance some of which were:
I slowly reclaimed my clarity, energy, and passion. Today, I am the truest version of myself, who is able to hold space for me and share this best version with all those within my community.
